Just when you thought it was safe to say, 'gee, maybe NASCAR will leave things alone for awile' not so... They've added a modified way that cup qualified to at least the x series. I didn't see it for the trucks. But they have a big change too. For the x series, most tracks, (I'm sure the rest will come out as official) they will be doing 'heat races' for qualifing. At least 2, 20 minute sessions. I'm sure there's more to follow.
Trucks, remember when they first started and they had 'intermissions'. it's back, well a modified way of it. Something to the effect of, get this... They race for 20 laps, if a caution had come out, good, if not, they're going to throw a competition caution. And repeat that till the end of the race. Wow, what those new young kids driving trucks now can't drive more than 20 laps at a time. Maybe they should make it mandatory that you have to be at least 18 instead of 16. JMOO.
What do you think?

The chase format for the trucks/xfinity series doesn't bother me. I saw that as an inevitability with how much they love the format in the cup series. IMO I've always felt the chase format should be in those series, but not in the Cup series. The Caution Clock is quite possibly the most idiotic thing I've heard of NASCAR doing. If that moves to the cup series I think that would finally break my desire to watch the series on a regular basis. It furthers the WWE claims, its directly manipulating races. Such a joke.

It isn't if but when that clock comes to the other series. Guarantees drama.
Like I said in the Shoutbox, once Kevin retires it's going to be real hard to continue to support NASCAR with the Clown Prince calling the shots.

I already dropped viewing most pro sports because money took over those sports. Why do they see the need for greed?

Road & Track is calling it "mind boggling ridiculous" one more reason not to watch NASCAR

I noticed when the announcement was made, he stated "it had a lot of support from different factions" (paraphrasing)
I wonder who thought this was a good idea and why..
Ill give this one a wait and see...and hope it doesnt move up the line.
PS-- Congrats to Kevin on yet another Cup Championship under the old system---quite the margin of victory!

the cup driver win 99% of the races so the series regs wont have bonus points to make it matter. I guess the championship will go to the series reg with the most top 5's. I'm pushing they change the name from nascar to something else out of respect for the sports past drivers and fans...

nascas sure screwed the wood bros. they have been in the sport since before brian, must have been adopted, france was born. I'm about ready to say eff nascar completely, everday is another "what the "I Can't convey myself properly in a civilized world without swearing" ?!?" when it comes to this wwe circus they still call nascar. 40 or 400 it doesn't matter anyway when nascar is remote controlling the cars and manipulating races,rules,championships,cars,ect.. plus we will have to get drilled to death about kyles "amazing comeback championship" too on top of it. I have to say after 20+ years of following nascar I'm not very excited for it this year. they need to do something to keep old fans around because they aint making any new ones........

We now have an "overtime line" where if they don't reach a point on the backstretch they restart the race again for GWC finishes.
