88 set fast time by 1mph faster than anyone.
He did it by himself.
This is corruption at its ugliest.

It's clear he's got advantages nobody else does. Jr said in his interview that he was trying to go by himself, but he ended up getting some draft from another car. It's still fishy. He should still be slower than other groups drafting all the way around the track. This reminds me of that year he easily just drove away by himself in the July Daytona xfinity race

Point is I think we can all agree that the 88 has an obvious advantage.
Either it's been handed to him by NA$CAR, or NA$CAR is turning a blind eye to their cheat.
Sickening.

Look at all these complaints about Jr surely cheating, meanwhile the past 2 years we have had cars that were absolutely in another league to the field time after time...

C'mon man, at downforce tracks you can definitely have a car that drives better than other people's or doesn't wear tires or other things of that nature.
He's like a quarter of a second faster than everybody at a track where everybody's car handles pretty well given the new-ish pavement and there isn't supposed to be THAT kind of advantage.

I'm not saying I know there's nothing fishy, I'm just saying that it could be that Steve Letarte just built a perfect racecar right before he left, and the best drafter in the sport is sitting behind the wheel making everyone look bad. God knows he punked Kevin and Denny out Thursday...

It's a long race tomorrow and anything can happen. Was it I think 2012 or 2013 where we won the Shootout and our Duel race and looked pretty much unstoppable that week until getting caught up in a big wreck like 30 laps in. Kevin has a very fast car tomorrow so let's just see how everything plays out!

It's funny how Dale Jr always has the fastest car at the plate tracks. Corruption is everywhere including sports. I and like many people always wonder if something is pre planned in sports. I believe they are at times maybe not every time but the possibility is always there. NASCAR is slowing going to the fixed side of things every time they make a rule change. I am willing to bet Jr has a bigger plate. He has more power than anyone else. I don't know if anyone noticed but when chase was ahead of Kevin in practice today, harvick was like 2 car lengths off of him. We are supposed to have the same motors but something is going on.

I'm with jake on this one. You have a guy who's obviously the best in the business on plate tracks driving the 88. He knows how to work the air, and really just has the instincts for plate racing, just like his father. If you watch the race closely, he does things that others don't do as far as manipulating the air. They're subtle differences, but they are in fact differences. He knows how to time runs relative to the situation going on around him. With that said, he has a great car. Do I believe NASCAR gives him a bigger plate? I strongly doubt it. If NASCAR wanted him to win so often, they'd be pulling strings for him at every other race on the schedule as well. I'll go back from 2008-2012. How many plate wins the Jr. have in those years? Maybe 2? I can only think of the Bud Shootout and his Gatorade Duel in 2008. How come he wasn't winning more then if NASCAR is giving him advantages at plate tracks? The packages with the COT were not nearly as air sensitive as what we have with the Gen 6. Side draft wasn't nearly the factor that it is now. The particular package that we have now, is extremely sensitive to side draft and air manipulation. IMO, that does favor Jr. with his skill set. However, there are a handful of other drivers that excel with this package as well: Keselowski, Johnson, Hamlin, Logano, Kenseth. Did NASCAR give Kevin an advantage at the plate tracks in 2010? He sure seemed to have a fairly superior car that year for each of those 4 races. I'm not sure how many of you know this, but the plates are given at random via a lottery ball system. The CC goes into the inspection room, picks a ball at random from a spinning bucket, and he gets that number plate. Let's face it, the guy is just good at this type of racing. It helps that he has a pretty good horse under him too.

I haven't watched any of the practices. That said my money is on Kevin, Matt and JJ in that order.

BDAY4fan. It has nothing to do with the driver on fast the car goes by his self. The car has more power and with more power than anyone else it is a cake walk. Yeah I agree Jr is one of the best at the plate tracks, but that being said when you have a clear advantage it is a lot easier at the plate tracks. By looking at practice Dale does not need the draft. His car is faster than anyone else. He can pass anyone out there with or without help. That is just not possible unless you have a big advantage.

Russellb. I have been watching practice all week. Unless the wrecks happen a certain way that is not happening. I am hoping your right, but I just don't see it. I am looking forward to Atlanta where the real season starts.
