If Kevin is driving a Ford next year, I will not be active on this page any longer. I do not want to just get rid of it, because that would be pretty shitty to do to everyone that enjoys coming here and commenting What I would like to do is find someone that is willing to "Take Over" the admin duties and run it/moderate it if Kevin stays with SHR. The moderating part is pretty easy, I've only had to delete one comment since I created this board back in August. Napoleon complexes need not apply. Hey bud. I don't have experience with this type of thing but I'd be willing to help out. I'm a Harvick fan through and through and I respect people's decisions if they decide they want to root for another driver/manufacturer. I don't want to see a good place where a lot of good posters through the years hang out.

That's ok. But everyone needs to remember what Larry MacRenolds said about 10 years ago when Toyota was first coming into NASCAR. 'Everyone that is pissed at NASCAR for letting Toyota come into this sport will be home watching the 500 on their big screen Mitsubishi TV's.' I have some die-hard needs and feelings too. But the older I get, the less I have. To many things in life is just getting to generic.

I here what your sayin--hey if I could get a TV or laptop or tv made in this country, I would..
I guess for me, it's still part of the deal as to how toyota entered the field, our cars on the decline--them looking to expand...the cars are REALLY not made here--we assemble them here. The real money in manufacturing (economics 101) Im pretty sure the big money items like engines are made and shipped over in a box container. No toyota casting forge lines set up here...etc. I live in the Northeast--smakk dab in the middle of the country's former war making/manufacturing machine. The F4U Corsair was built here right in my town, along with the blackhawk helicopter and some other fine stuff. I see everyday effects of accepting foreign products made by foreign workers how it has eroded the area and workforce. Its devastating!
Remember most of the real money made doesnt stay here---gets shipped back to Tokyo or wherever. Once again manufacturing=wealth case in point China.
That being said, I guess this is where I draw my line in the sand....yep its arbitrary..could be capricious....but nevertheless its the way i feel. Its why i own 2 harleys and not a rice rocket and old glory is displayed on the front of the house 24/7 365. Got to be American at some point---this is my way.
PS I dont drive a Gran Torino and dont hate Asians!.... LoL

Rameye, Natedoggg and Brandon have been given administrator rights.
I had hoped to maintain an amicable balance for the remainder of the season, but there seems to be a faction that is hellbent on denying that choice to anyone that doesn't agree with them.
That being said, I don't know how often I'll check back here, but please ask me any questions you might have and I'll answer them the best I can when I do log on.

But the older I get, the less I have. To many things in life is just getting to generic. I want to present a different perspective. I'm a fan of other sports and as such I have my favorite teams. I also have favorite players on the roster that I like to see in action. When these players get traded or sign with a different team, I don't change team allegiance over it. I'm a Colts fan, when Manning went to Denver, I didn't become a Broncos fan. I wished him the best of luck, but I got great satisfaction when the Colts were able to beat the Broncos numerous times. That being said, I am 100% Team Chevy and Kevin Harvick was my favorite "player" on that team. That team was here before Harvick and it'll be here after Harvick. So, to answer your question, No, I would not actively root for or purchase clothing/memorabilia/accessories/etc... of anyone that wasn't on "Team Chevy".

aric,
You did a lot of work keeping this thing up and running..this after we got booted by our girl (thank-you!)...I hope you stick around and chime in--I get where your coming from.
I think our mutual friend might be on the way out in a few years regardless....I've been eyeing Chase Elliot--hopefully he pans out- but until then....
maybe i can buy you a beer at Darlington!

Thanks guys... I appreciate the offer Rameye, but think we're going to do either Bristol or Richmond this year instead along with our normal Martinsville events...

I do not mind taking the board to keep it going, I sure do not want to lose another place that we can get together to voice our opinion and chat during the races.

I know I'm way late to this table, but aren't you cheering for the driver? I mean I really don't care for Kurt Bush or Danica and I really dislike Bowyer coming on next season. BUT .. I'm a Harvick fan!! And yes, we've driven a Chevy in my family for as long as I can remember and now so do does my husband and I. I'll continue to drive one ... just like I'll continue to cheer for Kevin. I think people forget that racing is a business and changing cars was a business decision. Kevin will remain Kevin no matter what he drives. If he means so little to you, then it would most likely be best for you to move along.
Just saying!
A HARVICK fan .... Ellen

A HARVICK fan .... Ellen Welcome to the board Ellen...Lets put it this way we have pretty much decided that everyone has their own way of viewing this situation.
Some don't care where Kev is or what he drives--they are Kevin Fans.
Others feel strongly about the manufacturer and it is very important to them for any number of reasons.
Some even care what team he drives for---some feel RCR didn't take care of him or he'd still be there.
That being said, everybody has a right to their opinion. I personally hope that the folks that hate the blue oval stick around cause they are really good folks.

Here's another. This board was started as a "so called Kevin Harvick Fan site" yes other threads and topics are discussed and needed. But when the old board shut down, I don't recall and post over there saying there was a new Chevy board being started.

I've had a LONG time to think this whole thing through, and ultimately, I have to stay with the Chevy camp. I was a Dale Sr. fan before anything, and mainly latched on to Kevin because he took over Dale's car. I thought I would have trouble following Kevin to SHR because he wasn't driving Dale's car anymore. Needless to say, I didn't have any trouble. Manufacturer changes are different for me. My Uncle, whom I'm very close to, worked for GM for 30 years. GM put food on the table for him and his family. His daughter had the audacity to go out and buy a Jeep a few weeks ago, and it pissed my Dad, myself, and my Uncle off to no end. You're going to go support another manufacturer, other than the one that fed you and put a roof over your head for 27 years of your life.
I had originally planned to stick with Kevin, but the Ford thing just made me cringe when I thought about it. I went to SHR during the week of Christmas - saw the new paint scheme on the Ford body and as like...NOPE, not doing this. I've always liked Chase Elliott, I feel he and I are a lot alike. We expect the best out of ourselves and when we don't get that, we're extremely hard on ourselves. Plus, he drives an iconic car with some pretty awesome sponsors for probably the best team in NASCAR.
It's been a good 16 years, and a lot of great memories with pulling for Kevin. Nothing personal against him, I hope he does well. Who knows, maybe the 4 and 24 will be battling it out for the title this year? Can't wait to get the season started!
