I made a post on the official board saying that it's probably due to the really negative reaction to busch beer sponsoring the car from the fans and that it looks bad for Kevin that he's funding a board where people are bashing his sponsor's product. I think the theory must be pretty sound since they took it down by the time I checked it again...it stinks to see, but I can totally understand why he would have to do it so suddenly under those circumstances.

It has nothing to do with that. If it did, they certainly would have removed the posts about how terrible Busch beer is - and they have not done this. It has nothing to do with what was posted - it's either a money or manpower thing. Jill is probably sick of moderating it, and Kevin or whoever makes those decisions decided that since it only affects a very small group of his fans that they can go ahead and shut it down. My guess is that Jill lobbied for this - I have no proof of this, but it just my hunch. But I guarantee you it had nothing to do with the 4 or 5 people that said Busch beer sucks. |

With the amount of money fans have helped contribute to his coffers, I'm sure he could have hired someone just to monitor the board. I'm thinking Harv just couldn't be bothered with it anymore. There was a comment on the SHR message board as well that the 4's board was closing.

I don't think it's unreasonable at all. A company paying millions of dollars to be associated with Kevin harvick, and the board gets shut down shortly after multiple fans said that their product was disgusting on a page with Kevin's name plastered on it and funded by him. If you understand corporate politics at all, its not all unlikely for them to pressure him to shut it down. Why else would they possibly take it away right in the middle of the year? It can't be that resource demanding to moderate a message board. There's probably no more than 5-6 posters in that thread dumping on Busch beer. I seriously doubt that's the reason the closed the forum.

I think Natedoggr is right in that Jill no longer wanted to moderate or participate with the forum. To me shutting it down due to lack of interest (her explanation) falls back on them-what are you doing to draw more people to it? In the past Liz and Cindy had contests and giveaways, etc. I don't think we've seen nearly as much of that stuff over the last 2-3 years. |
