I am originally from Florence, SC and have attended 20+ races there. I loved it and looked forward to it every year, but the last time I went, I purchased the driver intro wristbands. My son and I got there about 3 hours early (first ones there) so he could get a great spot to get high fives from the drivers. After standing on the blistering hot asphalt in 100+ degrees, we were told five minutes before the intros started that we had to move to another section because ours was reserved. Turned out that we were told wrong and that there wasn't a "special section". All we got from the Track VP was a 'sorry 'bout that' response. In all honesty, I don't think much could have been done to appease me after the huge disappointment in my sons face, but a generic 'I'm sorry' pissed me off even more! That sucks! I can definitely see why you feel the way you do. I'm hoping to make it out there next year. I've never been to Darlington and have always wanted to go. I hate that I'm missing it this year with the "Throwback" theme. That would've been super cool to see in person. we almost went last year, but decided not to. man was i kicking myself after he won!

I hate that I'm missing it this year with the "Throwback" theme. That would've been super cool to see in person. To me, the track itself went downhill when they swapped the Front and Back Stretch... The bulk of the races I attended were with the old configuration. Now, If you're on the Front stretch, Unless you're sitting near a railing, it is nearly impossible to see any front stretch action. Here's a video I took of Kenseth's burnout a couple years ago from our seats near the Start/Finish line... Around 1:10 he completely disappears. Imagine the entire race like that... Even at 2 wide, you only get a partial glimpse of the inside car.

First time I went there in 99 we sat at the start/finish line - never again, for the reason you posted. We usually sit in 4, but our son is going for the first time and he likes the race off pit road.... Should be a great experience for him and the weather for Sunday looks pretty good - as of today. Much cooler than last year at Atlanta for the Labor Day race and much, much cooler than Central Florida has been the last 3-4 weeks!

It's the side of the track where I've seen the most races from... although it used to the Front stretch when I was watching those....

We were in the old Winston suite there at the end of the backstretch. Almost got stuck in the mud trying to get out of the turns3/4 parking lot after the race. Good times... Enjoy!

Having grown up in the area (My dad actually lived where what is now the Geico Caveman Campgrounds) I have a lot of old classmates and friends that attend every year and that's always been the "Go To" tailgate area for us all... Since I don't live there anymore, I may not be happy with the track itself, but it's still nice to meet up with old friends and toss a few cold ones back.

Bringing out a brand new car for this weekend! Yes very anxious to see how the brand new chassis #945 performs Sunday night. Rodney seemed to have a twinkle in his eye when he was talking about his chase cars on race hub the other night.

We went years ago. About 1996ish. Set under the pavilion off turn 2. Was good from the blistering sun and later the rain. Loved it. Been wanting to go back for awhile. Now more that the track is getting old again. They should have never paved over the oyster shells. But its hard to get off of our 5-6 race schedule we have now. Wish I was there for this throwback too.
