Man I feel like we have lost the raw speed the later part of this year. We are still a top 10 top 5 team but we don't seem to have what we had at Dover.

We absolutely dominated New Hampshire and Dover and had winning cars at Chicago and last week at Martinsville. It's the mistakes that's been holding them back that they wasn't making all year up until these last 7 races!

They have been the most mistake-prone team I have seen ALL SEASON LONG. He'd have had about 10 wins if they hadn't consistently made mistakes throughout the season.

Well I'm talking about how they still have raw speed and the mistakes like not pitting with a big tire rub, running out of gas, over the wall too soon by the pit crew, getting run over while just trying to get a inside starting spot off pit road, engine at Talladega. Those mistakes have just happened in the last 7 weeks and what has prevented them from getting top 2 finishes Like they have all year. They have not made near the mistakes all year like they have since the chase started!

They have not made near the mistakes all year like they have since the chase started! I still disagree. These mistakes they have made during the Chase are consistent with the mistakes they have made all season long. Pit calls, fuel strategy, etc have been awful for much of this year, and it has cost them a ton of victories imo. Yes, the mistakes in the Chase have been terrible - I am not arguing that one bit. But I think this has been who they are all season long.

They made some little mistakes in the first 26 (also some bad luck like not catching one caution in the last 35 or whatever laps at Watkins Glen) but nothing like what they've been doing in the Chase.

I don't think anything from Dover, New Hampshire, or Martinsville in regards to speed translates to this weekend. How were they at Chicago? At Charlotte? Kansas? He led at most of the 1.5 mile tracks in the Chase and was at or near the front when whatever the circumstances of the week were occurred. I don't see any reason to think that trend would stop now just like I see no reason they shouldn't go out and lead from flag to flag next weekend.

I don't think they've necessarily lost speed I do think other cars of gotten better though. The other problem is with this dumb ass tapered Spencer It's. It's much harder to pass now than it was even 3 to 4 months ago. As the gap narrows between haves and have-nots it's going to be harder to get to the lead if you lose it. The last few intermediate track races there haven't really been any passes for the lead under the green flag condition. So it doesn't matter how fast you are because the leader has a 2 or 3 tenth advantage.
They struggled at charlotte all year with the exception of the All-Star race and even a few weeks ago and even if you weeks ago they still had the fastest car the end of the race but he couldn't pass the 20. I think they had the best car Chicago, Kansas they were probably a top three car. Texas in the Spring they had the fastest car from lap 20 to lap 40 Instead of one that race except 48 took his line away and Kevin got in the wall.
They didn't do any race runs today but the car is pretty fast obviously P2 overall

Are we going to make the 2nd round? We may have to go out again to do so.
