Right there with ya Justin, we have 22 yrs. First one was The Rock, spring of 94, once we smelled the octane, we were hooked. Seems longer with all the toys we have and amount of races we've been to. Hey, only 6 more Saturdays till the unlimited. Lets go 2016.

Started watching in 1997, and attended my first race in 1998, The Winston 500 at Talladega.

Growing up and living almost across the street from the track in Darlington, It's kinda been a love/hate relationship...
I loved NASCAR, but hated dealing with the influx of people twice a year. My first race was there in 1982 when I was still a young boy and I went to pretty much both races each season for several years afterwards. As I got older, I knew the people that were working the gates and was allowed to enter without a ticket.
Of course, now that I don't live in the area anymore, I have to purchase to attend...

That's a bummer, bet you wish you could walk through now, with some of the ticket prices the way they are now.

I never really thought about how long I have been a NASCAR fan. Looking back, it was in 1996 when I started watching. I was watching a race on TV & I have always loved black cars & I liked the name Earnhardt. I picked him for a favorite & boy I did not make a mistake. I have been following NASCAR ever since. After Dale's death, I switched to Kevin. Been a fan ever since.

Mine was, I was watching a race with my friend (who happened to be a Rusty fan) and he kept cussing at Earnhardt and THAT black number 3, so just to rub him, I said, I hope he wins. I can't remember who won that race, but became an Earnhardt fan then. Just like you, after his passing, I became a Harvick Fan the following weekend.

I made a last minute decision this past season to go to the race in Darlington and ended up buying back stretch tickets (because there are only a select few front stretch seats where you can actually see the front stretch). The way we were shuttled into the venue, no one ever once looked at or scanned my tickets... Too bad I didn't buy the insurance, might could've put in a claim saying I didn't get a chance to attend... Just Kidding...

aric,
not to hi-jack but Im going to Darlington for labor day---pretty fired up.
Thinking of staying in Hartsville as opposed to Florence--not much for massive traffic or hoopla---any opinions or suggestions?
Looking forward to some southern cooking--cant get it up here in the northeast-lol
Thanks
