My son and I will be headed down to Miami (and hopefully watching Harvick win the championship before he goes to the Blue Ovals).
Just curious if anyone here has any worthwhile info to pass along to a first timer....

Hey man. I've been to Homestead the last 10 years and have a couple of tips for the race weekend. Usually I stay in Ft. Lauderdale or somewhere around there to save on hotel costs. Homestead/Miami is ridiculous with prices for the race weekend. Ft. Lauderdale is about an hour drive to the track with traffic and if you don't mind that I highly recommend it. Also, leaving the track the shoulders of the road are opened for traffic. While it's a little rocky and narrow at some points it will save you a tremendous amount of time as you pass all the other cars sitting in two lane highway traffic. Bring sunscreen! The sun is intense in Florida in November. Where are you sitting?

We are Sec 236 Row 15..... From the online view, it looks like it's a section or two from the Start/Finish Line... It was the closest section that I found that offered an aisle seat while still high enough to get a decent view of the track (at least I hope it's a decent view).
The wife and daughter are headed to Miami with us, but not the race, so I've already booked a week at one of the resorts beach side on FL.SR A1A (actually in Sunny Isles Beach, FL)....
Most events my son and I actually break the grill back out afterwards for a post race meal. Serves two purposes... fills us up and lets most of the traffic dissipate while we wait. Do you think Homestead will be the same? Is everyone in a rush to get out of there immediately afterwards?

Yeah, everyone bolts as soon as the checkers are thrown. Obviously it was little different for me in 2014 and should have been last year! It was sweet to be there and celebrate after years of pulling for Kevin.
I'm in section 235, closest to the gold seats on the end. Love them! You should be fine with your view. I don't have my tickets in front of me but I think I'm around row 15, too.

I wanted to add that watching them head into turn 1 and fan out is awesome. Especially with the sun setting behind turn 1. Can't wait!
