When will this madness end? ?? This isn't anything new - points were awarded in the qualifying races up until 1971. Why is this a bad thing? It gives the drivers something more to race for than a starting spot. Also, it forces the 1st and 2nd place qualifiers for the Daytona 500 to race since there are points on the line.

Going to tear up a lot of cars tonight I think. That's the only issue I have with it. While it will provide more excitement, I'm afraid we'll see a few cars going back to the garage on rollbacks.

Well, before 1971 points actually mattered. In an era now where points and the regular season mean next to nothing, they are going out of their way to invent ways to tack points onto things for some reason. It's just more unnecessary change - change just for change sake. They still don't get why the ratings are down every year - it's because they keep screwing with something that worked for a long time. It started with the Chase, and continues to devolve every single year. The first 26 races of the season mean squat now - so adding points to qualifying races, positions at different times in the race, taking a dump, etc. just won't make any difference at all. The following drivers (barring injury) will still be in the stupid Chase regardless and, randomly, one of them will win the "championship": Harvick, Jimmie, Hamlin, Logano, Keselowski, Pouty, Kurt, Kenseth, Truex, Elliott.

Everytime Truex shows up with a fast car I wonder if he is legal. Kind of wish they would let everyone bring what they can build and go for it.

That is what the Clash and the AllStar race should be... an Open or Mod race... let the Engine and Body shop have a little extra room to play in... if you still want the basic shape of the car to be the same, then let them play with the suspension. AND DITCH THE MIRRORS!!!!!! You lose the lead... get it back... STOP THE BLOCKING!
