I think this is my first time actually logging into the site in about 5 months or so, but I was curious what everyone's thought on stage racing is so far??
Me.. I like the stages, but I don't like the automatic cautions at the end of each one...

I don't care for the stages - especially that it triggers an automatic caution. I think it's more manufactured drama that France Jr has come up with to screw with NASCAR. I'm old school and still prefer the year-long points system determining a champion (so that ALL races matter) - so this stage racing is just really gimmicky to me.

I like it! The only thing I would tweak is not counting the caution laps in between segments.

I like it for points purposes. I don't like the caution...they just throw a fake debris caution if they want one anyway, so what's the point?

Hi Arik, I like the segments. Like said above....it makes them race the entire race.

When I first heard about the stages, I wasn't happy. I usually don't do well with change, lol...but I do have to admit, it's added some good racing!
Here's my problem with it; Blaney, had a rocket, when that real caution came out a few laps before the end of the 2nd stage it screwed him, but benefitted others. I like how they race to the designated lap of each segment, but not sure I like how they throw a caution when it ends, that can alter the race. I don't think Blaney really ever recovered after that.
I know everyone is racing with the same rules layout, just not sure I like the cautions. Fake cautions bother me, especially when we know they're going to throw one when KH is leading with 30 to go. Did anyone see the debris??

it does kinda add a little excitement in the early part of the race but it takes away from the main point, winning the race. it is just a "chase" type thing for each race that just screws the whole race in the end like the chase does the full season. really it just makes nascar more of a circus act more than anything.

I'll mirror this, especially about BF mucking with the sport more...

Stage racing is great for short track races. The bigger D's usually get that dominate car... the top 5 kind of stay the same and the stages don't seem to add the excitement like they did at Martinsville. Hate the cautions... Unless Harvick needs one. But at least they are slowing the pace car WAY down to limit the number of laps. Personally, just stop counting laps and while your at it... stop counting caution laps when there is less than 20 left in the race. Last 20 should always be green flag laps. Just my opinion.
