Honestly, I've stopped even trying to keep up with their random changes to this event - I usually just watch and read the changes when the little pop up appears on the screen before the race starts. It's too bad that they don't realize that by changing the rules of this event, and the series in general, every single year that they kind of de-legitimize it as a bit of a farce...

Wow! It will definitely be interesting, especially since you can choose a "soft tire". It will probably be Checkers or Wreckers for sure.
Anyone interested in a gentleman's bet on how many cars get totaled. I think 8 is a good number!

Well if those steps forward are meant to bring in more fans, but haven't long term and they're actually losing old fans in the process. When, when, when,, are they going to take a step backwards?

With this race... I don't care. This race should be a true "OPEN" race. Lets see what the teams can do with less restrictions on car setup. Having the option for a single set of "softer tires" is intriguing. But, I do not think they are going to do much. Two different rubber compounds and the tires won't perform. They'd be better off having the "Push to Pass" button that Indy Car uses. LOL!

I like the format, it's closer to what it used to be back in the early 2000s. I really like the option for having a softer tire that teams to choose to use, and only being able to use it once. I talked to my contact at Ganassi this morning, and he said that the softer compound could gain 3-5 tenths over the harder compound, but that's fresh vs fresh. Heat cycles could determine the effectiveness. To me, it brings another element of strategy to the race, and if NASCAR wants to try something like that, this is the race to do it in.
