First off, best to Dale Jr. and Amy. Great guy and a heck of a racer.
That said, NASCAR better pray to whatever God they believe in that his multitude of fans decide to continue watching the sport or an already declining industry is going to quickly find itself on its deathbed.

can and will the sport survive without a dale Earnhardt? I will never fault a driver for deciding to hang it up! Dale will still be part of the sport... FOX and NBC are already drooling over the possibilities. Most likely Fox will axe Darrel and you will see Dale and Jeff in the both. I think they'll be good combo to call races. As for the fan base... its going to take a major hit. I doubt NASCAR will tank. Do you think Chevy will attempt to get Kevin back in its fold? or will the seat go to Alex Bowman? Does the 88 seat need to be a superstar? Who can fill that seat a keep a fraction of Dales fans? LOL! So how do they get Dale a championship this year? Hate to be a NASCAR script writer now! The deal they had with Chip Ganassi just went out the window... sorry Larson your golden ticket just got shredded. LOL!

Can't say I was surprised by the news, but I was surprised by the timing. I can definitely say it saddens me to see Jr. go. He's a great personality for the sport. He's humble, gracious, and real. I'm really hoping that this isn't as big of a blow to the sport as I think it's going to be.

Yup... I threw up a bit too... lol! Jr is and will always be the "most popular driver" ...Drivers will now be "the not as popular as Jr BUT more popular than the rest". We'll have most popular before Jr era stats and after Jr era stats and current stats compared to Jr. Are they going to have a vote off system for most popular driver now...... Please pack up your fire suit and leave the track. You will not be NASCAR's next .... Most Popular Driver! LOL!

I've said it before, each nail in nascraps coffin is another rule change and the lid is running out of room for mire nails...good luck in your future endeavours Jr.

LOL! unfortunately, IMO..Jr is and got most popular driver because his dad past and he collected a lot, (a lot) of his fans. Not saying he might have gotten it on his own had Dale not died, just saying we'd of never known.
