It sucked. In the spring at Dega too. Yeah getting searched was not my idea. My wife didn't even buy anything, and with our race day Radio bag and beverage bag, that didn't go over well at all. The people working the tent (when you could find one) didn't know squat about the products either. They had tents and haulers at Bristol. I wish it would go away, but I don't see that happening with the money they're saving from all the fuel for the merchandise haulers and individual payroll for the drivers and hotel rooms for 3 or 4 nights a week.This. Just like any other company in the world, it's a business. They're saving a boat load of money by doing this, and it's an extremely smart business move. I went to the tents yesterday, and the experience wasn't terrible. Do I miss the haulers? Absolutely. However, understanding that this is a business, and NASCAR has to do what they have to do to save money and continue to put cars on the racetracks, I'm totally fine with it.

I would agree that nascar is saving a lot of money! But nascar themselves, owner's, driver's etc. ARE ALL making HUGE amounts of money! And judging by the empty seats in the stands they shouldnt jeopardize the fan experience. I attend 2 or 3 races a season and enjoy the haulers. I'd be interested in seeing the results if nascar took a poll to keep the haulers or the tent. The fans are what make this sport and if they want to save money maybe they should take a cut and not the FANS! Just my honest opinion. I mean no disrespect to anyone including nascar, the drivers, owners etc. For making millions on top of millions, just dont forget the main reason you make that kind of money!

I understand it was a fiscal decision as well... But I wonder if they factored in the amount of revenue lost after someone visits this section and decides to give their money to the "Bootleggers" around the track...
The Merchandise was already over priced... now it's overpriced and d@mn near homicidal inducing aggravation!
The trailers were a part of the experience to me... now that's it's gone, I'm more comfortable sitting in my chair and ordering something from another source.

Personally, I never purchased much from the trailers at the track. Maybe a diecast here and there, but if I wanted a shirt, hat, or whatever, I'd get it from Plan B Sales or RacingUSA. That may be why the decision to ax the trailers didn't really effect me. Seeing all of the haulers lined up was part of the experience though, I do agree.

So... I didn't live up to my ultimatum...
My son had Bday money and wanted to spend it at the track at Martinsville... So we went back to the tents (Anything for our kids right?).
I have to admit, It wasn't as bad as I remember it being.
Maybe the fact that it wasn't 100+ degrees out helped sway my mind some, or maybe it was the fact that we were literally the first people in yesterday.
We waited about 20 minutes for them to open it up and for the first 25-30 minutes inside, it wasn't bad. But, then it started to get more crowded and luckily, my son and already picked out what he wanted.
So we headed for the checkout.
I'm still not thrilled about the setup, but I'm not as big of a critic of it right now....

Well I just had my 1st experience with the new tent and I have to say it sucked. Went in on Saturday and am glad that I did not go on Sunday. It was packed on Saturday so I knew that it would be a lot worse on Sunday. The prices were way to high. I really found a Harvick hoodie that I would have gotten but they wanted $80.00 for it and there is no way that I would ever pay that much for a hoodie. The only other section that I went into was Kyle Busch's area as my sister was looking for some M&M tees for the kids she watches and even they were too much. We ended up at the junk tents and spent a lot of money there. I will never spend a dime in those tents and will not be going back into them either. I know that a lot of people like them and the money was flowing like water in there so they are here to stay but I will not even enter them again. Will get all my stuff at SHR or on line.

I forgot to post here about my Dega tent experience.. First off when we got close to the track I noticed the only thing by the road for sale was firewood, I am thinking now that Nascar put this tent junk up that they are not allowing people to sell items close to the track. My son has went to Dega many times and he said they always have people beside the road selling T-shits and flags and such items. The prices in those little tents are off the charts, the prices of shirts are almost twice as much as they were when the teams had it in the haulers. Also as most of you know we attended the meet and greet and of course my son took his own cars from his collection to have signed, when we went to leave the guy was asking him for a receipt for those cars that he had in his personal bag and he let him know quick and in a hurry that they were his that he brought to have signed by Kevin at the meet and greet. Will order off line from now on, No more Tent sales for me !

I was at Martinsville this weekend as well. There were 6 of us together and we all hated the concept. The prices alone made sure I wasn't purchasing anything. I bought an Outback hat last year from the trailer for $10. This year I didn't see a hat for under $28. That is just insane. The whole shopping mall feel was boring to me. The trailers were wonderful because you could stand 15 feet back and see everything that was for sale and make your purchase. I probably won't ever set foot in tent city again.

... I bought an Outback hat last year from the trailer for $10. ... I bought the same one... I've worn it to every race I've been since.... The clearance tent had a select few when they first opened up for $20... but none that I was interested in purchasing...
