Let’s not forget Paul Menard’s helpful spin at Richmond that one time in the RCR days

Sure, I'll chime in, but there might be only half of you that reads it.
As I've been saying and posting and what you all already known for years, it's definitely been going down hill and continues to do so.
Flash back, early nineties, Dale was 150 plus points ahead at Atlanta, that's all he had to do was start the race. I didn't mind that, he dominated the season. Matt Kenseth's title year. Zero wins, but also no dnf's, had a crap load of top 5's & 10's and his avg finish was incredible. I didn't mind that either, it separated us from Indy and Cart. Remember they could run 12 races a year, one series points the top 3, the other was top 5. If you finished 2nd once, 3rd once and 4th 10 times you would still lose to someone that won 1 and crashed out the other 11 times. (sound familiar).
Then just like other sports that took a hit and the late nineties, Nascrap started changing shit. New cookie cutter tracks, fining drivers for little shit, C.O.T., changing the points system, meaningless cautions, playoff format and even more changes to the later.
So again yeah, what used to be "its not just a sport" "it's a way of life" commercial, is how we my wife and I used to live. 10+ years of 6-8 races a year, did 11 one year. Meeting and hanging with lots of people for 4 or 5 days and spending a ton of $$$$$ has slowing declining the last 6-8 years with these last two years being held onto by about 5 of us hardcores that's getting tired of it to. I have over 200 24 scale cars, cereals, dolls, hats, ornaments, car parts, flags, trains, cups, bottles, t-shirts, nic-nacs, 500 plus 1/64 scale cars and would watch all 3 series a weekend. Niw in the last 5 years I think I've bought maybe 10 cars, 5 t-shirts, hardly ever watch a X race, a few truck races, if I'm lucky. I'll still watch via dvr certain races, and probably go to about 3 or 4 next year. Its just hard giving up something that used to be such a big part of our life, holding on to that hope of change for the good. Hey, BF is gone, but next years RP changes at every other track seems like he's still in charge. F@#&king idiots...

The rules are what they are-- same things have occurred in the NFL, MLB --etc I do find myself at the local 1/4 mile track alot more sinced Bruton screwed us out of our Sept race. I wont go to the July race on principal--- F- him Sept season ticket holder since 2002-- The liar wont be getting my money anytime soon... I swim in my pool and listen to it on the radio! Happy Holidays!

Hello all. First and foremost, I hope everyone had a great winter. I took the offseason to think about whether or not I want to continue with this facade. I LOVE racing, down to its core. But what is going on with NASCAR now isn't racing imo. It's flat out manipulation. In any sport, you're going to get players or teams that get "favorable treatment" because they are good for ratings - that's undeniable. After the initial shock of the bullsh1t at Homestead wore off, I thought I would probably begrudgingly come back to NASCAR because it's kind of the only game in town. But as time wore on, I actually got nauseous at the prospect of again putting my energy and emotions through an entire season, just to have NASCAR decide who they want to win. The racing last year was mostly garbage with a few exceptions, but I persevered. The prospect of more RP racing at "non-RP tracks" is obviously absurd and I probably wouldn't watch any of those races anyway. Then came the bombshell of being able to take away wins for any infraction except lug nuts. That was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" for me. Now, NASCAR can absolutely, 100%, without question decide on the winner of a race or even championship simply by declaring the real winner "in violation". We ALL know where this is going to go, and I refuse to be a part of it. I hope Tombo doesn't do anything stupid when Kyle finishes 2nd to Kevin but then is declared the winner...because it's going to happen. For all of these reasons, and the many more that I've discussed/b1tched about over the years (e.g., stupid playoffs, stages, etc.), I have decided that 2018 was my last year watching NASCAR. I will always be a Kevin Harvick fan (though I think Rodney is a bit of a b1tch), and I will pop on here from time to time to congratulate you all when Kevin wins a race and is allowed to keep the win. But, for me, it's time to start a new chapter - and that chapter doesn't include a watered-down version of "racing" that is completely manipulated and causes me more angst than joy. I wish everyone the absolute best - obviously I've had run-ins with many of you as I'm more a kindred spirit to Greg and Tombo, which is all fine in the grand scheme of things. Special thanks to rameye, who created this site to give all of us a home when KHI message boards were suddenly deleted with almost no notice (still think that was a bullsh1t move on Jill's part). Anyway, enough rambling from me. I hope you all enjoy and have a great season, and I'm sure I'll pop in to say "hi" at some point during the coming months. Take care!

Take care! --NateDoggg Hate to see you go, Nate. I'm going to try to talk you down off the ledge here, so bare with me. If NASCAR manipulated things to where certain people would win, don't you think Dale Jr would've had a few championships before his career was over? Hell, I know Danica couldn't drive a hot wedge up a snowman's ass, but if NASCAR wanted her to win, they would've found a way. Imagine the tons of press NASCAR would've received had that happened. Taking wins away is one of the best decisions NASCAR has made in recent years. If your car is illegal, then it should be DQ'd, plain and simple. Kevin would've gotten credit for last place twice last year, and I'm perfectly okay with it. Play outside the rules and get caught? You deserve it. At the end of the day, it's still Kevin, it's still racing. Don't leave, man.
