This race encapsulized all that is wrong with NASCAR today. A championship in an "individual" sport was literally determined by a random late race caution, thereby giving a fading car (who was easily the worst of the 4 teams eligible) the win. The fact that a team could win the first 35 races and be dominating the 36th, but lose a championship based on total "luck" (or, worse, intentional aid from a teammate) is absurd; and, that showed today. This race should have been decided between the 4 and 78 at the end. And, though I think the 78 was probably going to catch and pass him, those were the 2 best cars and one of them should have been the champion.
I have absolutely hated the stupid "playoff" format since its inception - and this race today was the reason why. This is not a stick and ball sport with 2 teams on the field where the underdog sometimes wins the Super Bowl. This is a random race with all the other drivers where a random caution or blown tire or mechanical failure can hand the championship to a completely undeserving team. Today was that day.
And now we are going to add a bunch of restrictor plates to the equation? They've totally botched NASCAR with the playoffs, the stages, and pretty much every other rule change (except double file restarts) that they have implemented. But thinking that the Charlotte RP race was anything but completely lame takes the cake. And these morons that run the show wonder why viewership is down? It's because the races don't even matter anymore. For the winner at Daytona, the next 25 races mean barely anything. We all know the best 8-10 cars will make the "playoffs" no matter what, so the races leading up to it don't matter.
Maybe it's the emotion of the lost championship talking, but I feel like I just can't take anymore of this. The racing, outside of a few races, was largely garbage this season - and with the advent of RP racing at non-RP tracks, it's sure to be worse. And what's the point? To watch our guy dominate an entire season only to lose the championship on crap? I might be finally done. And, if that's the case, I want to thank all of you (even the ones I had huge arguments with). This site, which to me was infinitely better than KHI site, has been a source of entertainment for the past few years. If I don't see you all anymore, I wish you all the best of luck. I might pop by occasionally even though my NASCAR viewership may be finished, but in case I don't...PEACE OUT Y'ALL.

Truex probably would have gotten to Kevin but not sure if he would have passed him. Lagano drove a good race but certainly isn't worthy of the championship title. Nascar is at a new low.

Kevin will still be racing in 2019, which should give you plenty of motivation to watch!

no one was going to catch kevin and nascar knew it and seen a chance to throw a unneeded caution that loganos teammates started.. "win 35 races but not the last one and your not champion" is the dumbest idea in history...id like to kick who ever thought of that right thru their teeth.. the race was over and kevin was well on his way to a championship and wwe made sure to have a "cinderalla season" again..the way underdog against the "big 3" and the only one without a championship... GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE

I will say this though. It's a little alarming to me that the championship now doesn't really seem to mean as much. I'm completely satisfied with the season that the 4 team had, and not really bummed about not winning yesterday. Anyone else feel that way?
I'm way more bummed when Alabama's football or basketball teams lose, or when the Braves get eliminated from the post-season. Yesterday just seemed like another race to me.

Im a little bummed---BUT we kicked some a$$ this season and thats what matters----we had an opportunity to win but we didnt have the car to get it done...plain and simple Ill be back (be at the track in Feb) to witness some more ass kicking by our team----->> Next year we will watch Kevin climb another position in the annals of NASCAR history, cementing himself for induction as a hall of famer!! Hope to see yall back next year! (but understand if NASCAR has pissed you off a bit) Take it easy--have an excellent holiday season!

The championship is basically meaningless to me any more. Logano had a great car for 20-25 laps yesterday, got a suspicious caution when he was sinking, and is now the "champion" after a season where he was virtually nonexistent besides winning a plate race and wrecking the 78 to win Martinsville. I certainly wouldn't trade the season the 4 had for that.

Here is my 2 cents...
Exact reverse order for the seasons they had... 22 --- got his 3rd win on the season. Had to wreck Truex for his 2nd win. 78 --- 4 wins 29 --- 8* wins (You can argue this but everyone will still say that 2 of Harvick wins failed post-race inspection at the R&D center) 18 --- 8 wins
Hated to see JGR manipulate the race as they did... Firmly believe that Brad manipulated the for Joey! Truex didn't keep his promise! Next year is going to be ruled by Toyotas and the Ford camp is in for a long season if Chevys struggles have shed any light on the struggles of a new body.
See y'all next year!

I agree Russell. He does not get passed with 20 to go if it stays green. If anyone remembers Harvs first all star win, he held off the great 7-Time in his own house. Has anyone heard the media review that last criminal act with 20 to go? I still have not seen a replay of it! Bob P Twitter said David Hoots was livid, and condemning the 19. However it appeared to me the 2 was more at fault. Sickening that this kind of shit continues on after what happened to Waltrip's business. And I hope that Stewart and Hass think about what the 19 may have done prior to taking that Mexican money

I'll take 9 wins plus the 5+ that we gave away for the 22's 3 wins and a championship anytime the 4 team was great this year. Hope for the same next year
