So, I got a call from my wife asking if I'd be interested in going to the TX race. YES! Anyway, now I'm looking into Tix and upgrades and scanners and … I have only been to 1 race 15 years ago. I'll have my son and daughter with me. Wish I could say money is no object.... but
Going for Sat and Sunday.
? - Buy a scanner and headset? or rent from track? ? - Thinking Turn 4 ? - VIP Pit pass or Pre-Race Pass?
Any recommendations?

Scanners - if you don't go to races very often, I'd just rent from the track. Otherwise if you think you'll be going to several a year, buying a scanner makes the most sense 2. Seats - I doubt there's a bad seat at Texas, just make sure you're up at least 15 rows so you can see the whole track. I've never been to Texas, but I assume its's much like Atlanta or Charlotte 3. After looking at the TMS website, the VIP pit pass would be the way to go. Sounds like you're getting a Cold garage pass if you go that route, but I'd call the speedway to make sure. If it is indeed a Cold pass, you'll be able to roam around in the garage while cars are not on track.

If you have any type headsets that use the standard mini jack. (ie. Two sets) you could buy a couple of Y-connectors. Then you can rent one scanner with two headsets, add your other two sets and walla. Other wise you'll need to rent two scanners and four headsets. Enjoy, I've never been to Texas, but like fanof4 said, anything like Atlanta or Charlotte and it'll be a good race.
