www.foxsports.com/nascar/story/kevin-harvick-stewart-haas-racing-joe-gibbs-racing-carl-edwards-chase-predictions-091715Just minutes into the opening event of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup -- a gala media event in downtown Chicago -- Kevin Harvick has fired the first round of the title fight. The four-car Joe Gibbs Racing squad has won seven of the last nine Chase races and 10 races overall, but Harvick, the defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion said he's ready for the fight to begin. Queried about the success of the JGR teams, Harvick smiled. "I think we're going to pound them into the ground," he said. "That's what I think. Hopefully, they can beat themselves." Asked if he thought his Stewart-Haas Racing team was better than JGR, Harvick said, "I don't know that we're better than them, but I think for us, it's all about having the experience. It's really not about having the fastest car. It's about having the experience to be able to go out and handle the emotions of the 10 weeks. "That's talk," said Carl Edwards of Joe Gibbs Racing. "We'll go race and see how it turns out, but I think statistics and our performance really speaks for itself. We're pretty fast." JGR's Kyle Busch laughed when told of Harvick's smack-talk comments. "I thought that was supposed to be with the media day before Homestead not media day before the Chase starts," said Busch. Asked if Harvick was talking trash to him, Busch said, "No. He won't do it to our faces. He'll just do it through you guys (the media). ... I'd really hate to see him blow a motor here the first week. That'd be really, really bad."

Kenseth is the only JGR driver with the mental fortitude to actually be a threat to win it all. The others past performances speak for themselves

Let's hope Kevin's right. The JGR cars have been strong this year. Big difference from last year.

Its all posturing. Thats what Harvick does and it's all tongue in cheek talk. Now, my question is why in *!#%@@ didn't Kevin go in and immediately get tires after rubbing with the #48 in the first chase race. I'm sitting in my arm chair yelling, go get two left sides; four if you think its better. Staying out was a bad call. It was just a matter of time before that left rear was going to let go. Now he'll be required to win one of the next two chase races. Happy and JJ are pretty good friends and Joey's pushing the 48 onto the apron will end up testing the relationship for a time. Hopefully, they will sort through the chain of events and see that three wrongs couldn't possibly have a good outcome.

Well, when 1 of your friends is a diehard 48 fan, another one is an 18 fan, another one is an 11 fan, another one is a 19 fan, and another one is a 24 fan it just makes things a pain in the arss when my guy sticks both of his feet in his mouth. I happen to be a big believer in karma.

All I could think about was all the time Jimmie spent in Harvick's garage wanting him to win it all last year.
