@rodneychilders4 Why did you guys bring a older car martinsville?
Yeah - no shit dude - that doesn't really address the issue that you brought a 2 year old car that has NOT performed great in the past to the first race of the semi-finals of the Chase that you've worked all year to get to. It's almost as if they treated this race as a "throw away" race - I have no other explanation for it. You're telling me you can't build a better car in the last 700 days for such an important race since it's been your WORST track in the Chase? Really? This is the BEST you can do? Bringing a 2-year old car with mediocre past results when everyone else has the newest and best? No wonder you got your butts kicked yesterday..........as Sean Connery in The Untouchables said "Just like a #&%$ - bringing a knife to a gun fight".

I was impressed that the car did as well as it did in the first half. IMHO, the car WAS top 10 material and then it was like a switch was thrown and it became a back marker. Really odd. If I had to guess, something on the car broke. It does seem like they are suffering a ton of mechanical failures lately. Its like Hendrick is sitting on the box with the master speed limiter built into the engines sold to SHR. [Little Conspiracy] Do you think it was odd that Harvick was running great until Jimmy pitted for damage under that bogus caution! Hendrick must have called in all of his markers. We do have to remember that SHR is going to Ford. And they are not building stuff for their current fleet... they are probably building for next season. In fact, I though that was one of the reasons Tony said they were moving to Ford was because they would be able to build (or have more say) their own chassis. www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/articles/2016/2/25/stewart-haas-racing-ford-switch-2017-analysis-questions-sprint-cup-series.htmlDanica and Tony need to make the switch now! I do believe that the alliance that Hendrick and SHR HAD is in name only. I seriously doubt that the "stuff" Jimmy has is stuff that SHR has access too.

It was a humiliating day for the company as a whole. An organization with the resources that SHR has should never have a day where all four cars finish in the 20s without any mechanical issues.

I heard or read a quote this weekend from Rodney that stated once the track rubbers up they lose the handling there. I assume with all SHR drivers running the same that they were all running out he same ideas in their setups. I agree that running an old car that's proven nothing at this track is a dumb move. I'm still miffed on how at rcr he did a 2 tire stop and drove from 18th to first in the race he won. That right there should give Kevin some insight on what he needs in the car on a rubbered up track.

The body and every piece on it is brand new. When you say "old car", the only thing that you are referring to is the center cage of the frame which only has 1900miles on it and doesn't wear out. The old cars are grandfathered in for NASCAR and don't have to meet the new center section rules. So our "old car" is 25lbs lighter than if we built a brand new one, and is all new. So now, you can quit calling it an old car. It's not.

First off - don't label me as some know-nothing fan Mr. Know It All - I know you think you might know everything about racing, but I guarantee you don't. 2nd off - it has nothing to do with "wear" - what it has to do with is that this chassis has not produced good results in the past - so why would you run it again, at the same place, where it hasn't performed well in the past. It doesn't matter that it's 25 lbs lighter if it's NOT PRODUCING. Do you understand? They have a stable of good cars that have won or run consistently near the front - THOSE are the cars you keep bringing back no matter how old the chassis is. You don't keep bringing one back that ISN'T performing.

It's led 264 laps at Martinsville the few times it has been ran. You don't want to bring your absolute best car here, simply for the fact is it may come back on the hook and not be repairable. You save your best horses for Texas and Phoenix. I'm not happy with the result, but I guarantee you Rodney had a reason for bringing this car. He's not perfect, but to question him is nothing short of asinine and ignorant. He knows what he's doing. After all, he has some experience with this stuff where the rest of us do not. Also, for Christ's sake, it's Tuesday, let it go.

Because I question a decision like this BEFORE the race and it turns out that it was a poor decision? 3 - Look at the record of our OTHER chassis and you tell me how this one stacks us against it. The one they used was mediocre AT BEST in comparison. 4 - So, we shouldn't question anyone or anything at anytime? Are you one of THOSE people "well, they have the job, so they MUST know EVERYTHING and we should all just keep quiet and follow like good little lambs"? Sorry - I don't play that. 5 - The fact that you stated "You don't want to bring your absolute best car here" invalidates pretty much anything else you have to say. So, for the first race of the semi-finals of the Chase, you're cool bringing an inferior car? WOW, just WOW. Why, because you're that sure that we are a lock to win Phoenix? That's ridiculously ignorant. You get to this point and you try and bring your best car EVERY SINGLE WEEK. There are no "throw away" races at this point. At Dover or Talladega - of course - bring your worst shit. But in the first race of the semi-finals? That's just dumb.

I'm on to Texas but my last word on that race is that they need to figure out why they can't keep the car under Kevin throughout the entire race. They always start off dynamite and when the track goes through its big swing at halfway, they totally lose the car. Now, they got burned a little bit b/c the longest run of the race happened to coincide with it and they didn't get a chance to start adjusting, but it's been an issue since the first time they came to the track.
And I agree with Nate that this Martinsville race is a huge deal given its place on the calendar, and they needed to come up with something better than a car that hasn't been particularly reliable.
Okay, like I said, on to Texas.

do the chassis matter as far as what make youre running? can we keep using these old ones with the Ford engines and bodies?

I think we are screwed. We don't have the raw speed we need to win these races right now. The last 2 wins were top 5 cars, but it took a late restart to make it happen. I will miss the Texas race entirely. I am going on a cruise. Also not to bring bad luck but the last time I went on a cruise Kevin ran 23rd at New Hampshire with the 29 car.

Well shit, now the season is over. No way we win at a 1.5 mile track, I mean look at what happened at Kansas. And to top it off Jumbercable4 scheduled a cruise at a crucial point of the season. Thanks, Jumbercable4!
